OpenCode

A terminal UI coding agent that is provider-agnostic and local-first. Spec page: /tools/opencode.

• Treats BYOK and model choice as the default: any model, including local ones, which makes it a natural fit for self-hosting and avoiding vendor lock-in.
• MCP-native, so the ecosystem of MCP servers extends its reach.
• A capable harness for multi-agent patterns: the code review with agents writeup builds an orchestrator-plus-specialists reviewer entirely in OpenCode’s .opencode/agent/ files, with the lead’s permissions scoped to only invoke its three specialists.
• Younger than the incumbents, so a smaller plugin and integration ecosystem.
